Thanks to Beverly for hosting another Pink Saturday. This week's contributions for me are just a couple of things. First, this pink polka dot fabric I am using in a baby quilt for Ashley. Ashley is my boss' daughter. They have opted not to find out the sex of their baby, which by the way, I think is wonderful, so I had to try to make a gender neutral quilt. It will be wild and crazy when I get it done, but I think they will love it.
Secondly, this doll. I happen to love her. My family on the other hand, finds her spooky. Crazy people. Anyway, this is another beauty that I got from my husband's grandmother Bobby. She was naked, so I made her this mauve pink dress back in the 80's. I think she needs an update. Up until last week, she was wearing some bloomers that my Megan wore under her little dresses when she was little. They were replaced by some really cute cotton britches that I found at Goodwill for a quarter. Guess I should put updating that dress on my list of things to do.
What a nice gift you are making. It looks full of fun colors. I like the doll. I have a doll that I got in 1963 that my friends and family do not appreciate either!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday!

The quilt looks like it will turn out great! How sweet of you to make one for your boss's daughter!

Happy Pink Saturday, Michelle.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I think your quilt is going to be so colorful and fun. Such a wonderful gift.
You'll have to show us your doll again when you make her new dress. I think she will like having a big wardrobe.
The quilt will be such a special item for Ashley. I'm sure it will take front-and-center in the new baby's life. :o)
ReplyDeleteI like the polka dot fabric!! The quilt will be gorgeous!! I´m sure!

Your doll looks very similar to one I received as a youngster. She wore plastic heels and had pearl tear drop earrings that were on a post so they stuck in little holes where her earlobes are. Her dress (mine has the original dress--the shoes and earrings are long gone) was pink lace. She was and is a beauty. I MUST get her out---and compare!
ReplyDeleteOooHhhh! How pretty! I would love to see your completed quilt! What a wonderful gift!
ReplyDeleteLove the doll!
Happy PINK Saturday!

Your doll reminds me of a doll we had when we were young. It was in my closet and one day I was looking for something in there, and my eyes just happened to rest on the doll at the same moment my sister quietly popped her head in my room and said "hello"! I screamed thinking it was the doll that said it! lol! Needless to say, my sister took the doll with her to her room! It kind of freaked me out just a little too much!
ReplyDeleteLove the colors in that quilt. Lovely vintage doll!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt! And I love the doll!
