Monday

Monday, Monday, Monday. Well, not much accomplished over my "three day weekend". Got some more annuals planted.
On our annual trip to the Newburgh Country Store, I did manage to purchase a lavender for the deck. Blue Star Lavender. Of course, mine doesn't quite look like this one yet. My youngest daughter and I always make that one of our spring time stops for some herbs. I hope it does well, I would love to keep a big pot of lavender on the deck. If it makes it through the summer, I plan on trying to keep it during the winter.
Just found out that I have tomorrow off. Hopefully it will be a productive day.

Ahh, a three day weekend. Sewing, painting, working in the yard. So much to do in the next three days. Oh, I almost forgot. ROLLER DERBY!!! Demolition City Roller Derby has "The Mother of all Bouts" this Saturday. http://www.demolitioncityrollerderby.com/ Even though my daughter, Smearilyn Monroe won't be skating, we will be there to support the team anyway. It is actually really exciting.

Not asking for much for mother's day. Just for my husband to move my shed. Not asking for much am I? I just want it to be closer to the house, so I can actually use it. Any good "potting shed" ideas, I need them.

Rainy May Day

Well, the first part of the Road Trip, sun was shining and it was a beautiful morning. Of course, as soon as we got to Hosta Haven, here comes the rain. But, that's okay, because we brought our umbrellas. Talk about Hostas. I have never seen so many hostas, not to mention so many varieties. "Love Pat" is kind of a blue green and the leaves are actually cup shaped. Probably will catch the rain water. The tiny bright green one is "twist of lime ". Then there is "striptease". I can't wait to get them planted.

What a day. Got my porch painted, well at least one coat. Now it is supposed to rain. So that project will be on hold. Went to Kroegers Greenhouse and purchased a new water lily for the pond by the lamp post. I purchased one about 3 years earlier and it has gone crazy in the back yard pond. Kind of expensive, but worth it not to have to pot it up or anything. Just bring it home and plop it in the pond.

Next stop, Pet Food Center. I bought several "feeder" gold fish. That is all I ever buy for my ponds, works out pretty good. They are about seventeen cents apiece, and I got this cute little white guy with a black mask across his face. Hope he lives. Of course, the water is so cloudy, it will probably be a while before I see him. Moved some snails from the back pond to the front. They have multiplied. Little buggers. But boy do they love the algae. Between the snails and plants, I finally have it figured out. Well, at least I have clear water. Also found a Lantana for the back yard. As you can tell from the picture above, this is Dixie's favorite flower. Still have lots of flowers to buy and plant. Oh yeah, ROAD TRIP TOMORROW!!!

April 30, 2008

Bunco, another word for good food and some fun. Bunco at Karen's tonight. The food was excellent, or shall I say "phenomenal". To quote one of our dear Bunco buddies. As usual, I didn't win the money, but did walk with the "boobie" prize. A cute little easter towel. Now, next month at my house. Let's see if I can top April. Well, my house won't be as clean as Karen's and I won't have nearly as much food, but we will have a good time. I am trying to be nice, but it is hard as there is a certain someone who usually puts a damper on things. She shall remain nameless. Did you know that there is a World Bunco Association? Check this out http://www.worldbunco.com/. NO KIDDING!

On another note, one more day till "ROAD TRIP"! Can't wait to get away for a day. Go wherever the mood strikes. Hopefully find some treasures, maybe a new plant for the garden.
I am always on the lookout for some new fabric to add to my collection. Maybe a piece of "junk" or two to wait until I have a creative idea for. You just never know what we might find.

I would love to find some of these blue dianthus. These would look really great with some yellow marigolds in my flower bed around my lamp post.

Well, darn it all anyway. I had a nice long post ready, then nothing. I don't even know what happened. What a day, think I will just go to bed now.
